iC2 installs megapixel CCTV system at Chelsea F.C.

iC2 CCTV the London – based security systems installer, has installed a major state-of-the-art CCTV surveillance system at Stamford Bridge Stadium – home of Chelsea Football Club.

Sixteen x 16 megapixel Avigilon cameras were installed pitch-side. They allow Chelsea’s security team to monitor and play back workable footage from every seat in the stadium in close detail and without any loss of quality or compression artefacts.

The image resolution is of such a high level that it allows facial identification of every single spectator and provides indisputable evidence of any misdemeanour.

In order to cope with such huge amounts of data, iC2 have installed an Avigilon Control Centre with High Definition Stream Management (HDSM). According to Avigilon, this award winning video management platform delivers full situation awareness and indisputable detail, leading to faster response times, reduced investigation times, and superior overall protection.

The recording capability of the new system is exceptional. The system has the capacity to record and store up to 80 terrabytes of data.

Phase one of the installation included cabling, siting the sixteen cameras, installing the control centre software and upgrading the existing monitors to high-definition plasma screens.

Commenting on the Chelsea project, iC2’s Managing Director Andrew Whelan said: “this is by far the most sophisticated CCTV surveillance system ever installed into a UK sports stadium.”

He continues: “iC2 has an enviable track record within sporting facilities security. The Chelsea project sets a benchmark for all stadia in the future and confirms iC2’s position as a forerunner in the CCTV industry seting us apart from other installers as a leader in cutting edge technology.”
